About Us

Rough Truffles is a wonderful Community Choir based in Belper, Derbyshire.
People of all ages are welcome to come and join us for friendship, laughter and song!

​We are a warm, welcoming choir, with rehearsals frequently filled with fun. We aim to bring the uplifting, joyous feeling of signing together to all who attend.

Music we sing is generally unaccompanied, with all parts taught by ear. We sing a wide range of songs - from World music, to Folk, to Shapenote.

We enjoy a good laugh and frequently have social events outside of our rehearsals.

Our rehearsal venue is Belper Rugby Club. We still adhere to some common-sense Covid Protocols: there will be lots of ventilation (even in cold weather!) and we ask people with any Covid symptoms to not attend.

Rehearsal Structure

Our sessions last for two hours in total, and are led by our fantastic Music leader, Frances Watt. She has years of experience leading community choirs and teaches parts by ear, so there is no requirement to read sheet music - in fact, sheet music only rarely makes an appearance! Frances brings her solid understanding of vocal teaching and wide range of World music to make our Rough Truffles rehearsals tremendously enjoyable to attend.
